Increasing Clinical Research In Africa Through Workforce Development
30.10.2028
The Cleveland Clinic Foundation
Cancer care across Africa is advancing rapidly, yet opportunities to lead and participate in clinical research remain limited in many settings. Equipping early-career investigators and research teams with the skills, mentorship, and international networks needed to lead research is essential to expanding access to innovative treatments and generating evidence that reflects African populations.
This project aims to strengthen clinical cancer research across Africa by supporting early-career investigators and research coordinators through intensive training workshops, ongoing mentorship, and hands-on research experience at leading international institutions. Participants will develop skills in clinical trial design, study implementation, and research management while receiving guidance to advance their own research projects over a one-year period. The project will also foster collaborations between African institutions and international partners, creating opportunities to initiate new clinical research studies, including therapeutic clinical trials, and expand access to innovative cancer treatments on the continent.
