Access to Immunohistochemistry (IHC) in the management of breast cancer in Mali
Breast cancer is the most common and deadliest cancer among women in Mali, with the majority of cases diagnosed at advanced stages and limited access to essential diagnostic tools. Immunohistochemistry (IHC), a cornerstone of modern oncology, remains inaccessible for most patients, delaying treatment and compromising outcomes. This project aims to address that gap by integrating IHC into routine clinical practice at CHU du Point G. Its primary objectives are to improve access to timely molecular diagnosis, enable personalized treatment based on tumor subtypes, and generate evidence on treatment outcomes to support national cancer care planning. By strengthening local capacity and building sustainable diagnostic infrastructure, the project will lay the groundwork for long-term improvements in breast cancer management across Mali.
