ICF Projects

Supporting locally driven initiatives to improve cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care worldwide.

Explore our projects

The International Cancer Foundation (ICF) supports high-impact projects that address locally identified priorities and critical gaps in cancer care in low- and middle-income countries. We fund initiatives led by healthcare professionals, researchers, and patient organisations, with a focus on sustainable solutions, local relevance, and measurable impact. Each project is supported not only financially, but also through mentorship, technical input, and access to international expertise.

Selection Process

ICF operates two project review cycles per year:

  • Spring Review
    • Application deadline: 1 February
    • Results communicated: Mid-May
  • Autumn Review
    • Application deadline: 1 September
    • Results communicated: Mid-December

Applications undergo a structured review process to ensure alignment with ICF’s mission and priorities. We accept applications on a rolling basis, but the review process is only conducted during these timeframes.

Evaluation Criteria

All project proposals are assessed against the following criteria:

    1. Impact

Projects must demonstrate the potential for significant and sustainable outcomes, benefiting patients, communities, and the healthcare system, with long-term and/or replicable impact.

    1. Feasibility

Proposals should present a clear, realistic implementation plan, including defined milestones, partnerships, and budget. We encourage cooperation with national authorities where applicable.

    1. Strategy & Methodology

Projects must include a sound strategy and logical framework demonstrating how objectives will be achieved. The proposal should be grounded in sound background research and deep understanding of the local context.

    1. Value for Money

The expected benefits should justify the investment, with a strong cost–benefit balance.

    1. Originality

We prioritise projects that introduce innovative approaches or new perspectives to address unmet needs. This could include reinterpreting existing knowledge, proposing a new modus operandi for an existing challenge, or confronting a topic never before addressed.
